In the experience of our project, one of the most pleasant surprises has been the Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in a fresh Galestro (clay and limestone) soil with an eastern exposure. Every year this vineyard gives us fantastic grapes, with small uniform bunches and excellent ripe tannins, without ever displaying green or herbaceous notes.
The little Syrah vineyard on the other hand gives us an excellent blending base which is deep, soft and powerful, the perfect complement for the racy character of the Cabernet. These two wines are the only ones that are aged in new oak, though never too toasted.

Harvest Notes

2015 was an excellent vintage with ideal weather and near perfect conditions. The harvest was very good in quality, but limited in quantity. Overall, our Sangiovese presented a curious condition, where we made more top choice than base wines for Chianti Classico and Casa del Capo. The perfect conditions not only reflected well on the Sangiovese, but produced spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon in what was probably the most abundant part of the Estate that year.
